Dearest Families!
We are very excited for our Family Field Trip at the Singapore Zoo. We are looking forward to this celebration of our current Unit of Study: Fins, Furs and Feathers. We know there are many questions and we hope this correspondence helps answer them.
Are all the classes going together?
We have divided the field trip over two days:
-Monday 6 June - EHu & TMo
-Tuesday 7 June - TSn & RaH
How will students and parents get there?
All students attending will take the bus with their class. Buses will depart campus at 8:15am. It is important that we begin together, under the school’s supervision. Parents will meet us at the Singapore Zoo. There is no room on the bus for parents.
When should families get there? When can we leave?
We will meet families at 9 am at the entrance. Please purchase your own entrance ticket(s) prior to joining us.
You will not need to purchase tickets for your children in K2, this is included in the cost of the trip. We will also meet at 11:15 AM for a family zoo picture near the shops before we exit the zoo.
Can I use my Friends of the Zoo Card?
All UWC students will require a ticket as indicated on CIMS. Cost includes entrance, transportation and fees. Students can not use your Friend of the Zoo card, However, you can use it for your own ticket purchase.
Who can come on the day?
The intention of the day was to have a celebration with your K2 child. Parents are more than welcome as well as younger, non-school aged siblings.
What if my child has medication?
If your child needs medication (such as an epi-pen for allergies) and you are attending the trip, it will be your responsibility to bring and administer medication if required. If you will not be attending the trip then we will bring the necessary medication which you have already provided to the clinic and your child will be grouped with a First Aid trained adult. Otherwise, we will also have the necessary medication on hand and your child will be grouped with a First Aid trained teacher
What if I can’t attend?
We completely understand! UWC Staff will also have student groups and it will be a pleasure for us to have special time with your child.
What if something comes up during the trip? Who do I get in contact with?
If there is any issue during your time at the zoo please call the school and they will get in touch with us directly. Each child will have a UWC stickers with the office number.
What if I want to purchase something for my child?
Keeping in mind that we are on a school trip, we are requesting all families to please refrain from making any purchases while on the Field Trip. This is to ensure that all children have equal opportunity and fairness.
What if I want to take my child home with me from the zoo?
There is an option on CIMS that will allow you to indicate that you will be signing your child out at the end of the field trip. We will also check in with families at the beginning of our time together.
What does my child need to bring?
We ask that your child wear their UWC PE kit the day of the field trip. Please make sure they bring a raincoat, their hat, a substantial snack and a full water bottle. Sunscreen and insect repellant should be applied beforehand.
